The Concert Band will perform a wide variety of music and will showcase a number of student conductors from the music-education program.
Selections will include “Procession of Nobles,” by Rimsky-Korsakov; “Irish Tune from Country Derry,” by Percy Grainger; “Incantation and Dance,” by John Barnes Chance; “Shadow Rituals,” by Michael Markowski; “Chorale and Shaker Dance,” by John Zdechlik; and “Riders for the Flag,” by John Philip Sousa. The student conductors will include Katherine Beaudoin, Genevieve DeHart, Hannah Dirkse, Matt Gilbert, Charles Jordan and Lian Robinson.
A full band of about 70 performers, the Concert Band is open to all students and community members from the Holland and Zeeland area, and is directed by Gabe Southard. Southard. The Concert Band rehearses and performs standard repertoire, and allows music education students to work on secondary instruments and rehearsal techniques.
