A Lecture & Book Signing with Angel Adams Parham
The last three decades have seen an increasingly loud chorus of voices declaring that the study of core texts within liberal arts programs is exclusive, even racist. “Why should we study the work of oppressors?” Is there something to these critiques? What — if anything — might be gained by engaging in liberal arts study that emphasizes the reading and discussion of core texts? Join us for a lecture and response to these questions.
Angel Adams Parham (University of Virginia) engages in research on the historical and comparative-historical sociology of race.

This lecture, free and open to the public, is co-sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Committee, The Emmaus Scholars Program, Markets and Morality, the Departments of World Languages and Cultures, Religion, English, History, Philosophy, and Women's and Gender Studies.
