The United States emerged as a leading force in world art during the 20th century at least in part because of the contributions made by artists who immigrated to America from countries around the globe. Those immigrant artists brought with them new ideas, subjects, styles, and aesthetic sensibilities that greatly expanded and enriched the parameters of modern American art. This exhibition features work by nine immigrant artists whose careers span a range of dates from the early 20th century to the present day. Works by an additional seven immigrant artists are included in other displays around the museum. All of the artworks in the exhibition belong to the permanent collection of the Kruizenga Art Museum.
Admission to the museum is always free and the public is welcome.
