Asian Heritage Lecture: Kathy Khang

Wednesday, March 4 at 5:00pm to 6:30pm

Jim and Martie Bultman Student Center
115 E. 12th Street Holland, MI

Writer and speaker Kathy Khang will present “Raise Your Voice: Asian American Activism and Advocacy” as the 2020 Asian Heritage Lecture at Hope College on Wednesday, March 4, at 5 p.m. in the Schaap Auditorium on the lower level of the Jim and Martie Bultman Student Center at Hope College.

Khang’s address will focus on Asian Americans as not being the myth of the model minority in the American Dream. She will consider what it looks like when Asian Americans embrace the diversity of their experiences as a pillar for activism and advocacy?

Khang is a Korean American mother of three. She spent more than 20 years in parachurch ministry working with college students and training organizational and church leaders. She authored “Raise Your Voice: Why We Stay Silent and How to Speak Up” and coauthored “More Than Serving Tea.” In her books, she challenges and encourages everyone to find and use their influence to bring about the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven.

The lecture is being presented in collaboration with Hope’s Asian Perspective Association and the GROW diversity council.
