"Complex Trait Gene Regulation"
Christa Ventresca received her undergraduate degree from Vassar College in upstate New York where she did her senior thesis on the oogenesis of fruit flies in Dr. Nancy Pokrywka's lab. Following graduation, she spent two years as a postbac researcher in Dr. Mary Lilly's lab at the NIH, also studying oogenesis of fruit flies. Upon starting a PhD program, she swapped to human genetics and is now a PhD candidate in the Genetics and Genomics program, and completing a Bioinformatics masters, at the University of Michigan. She works in the lab of Dr. Stephen Parker studying the genetics of type 2 diabetes. Outside of lab, Christa has a few too many hobbies including playing the saxophone in a community band, dancing with a group on campus, and acting in Shakespeare in the Arb every summer.
