DESCRIPTION:In honor of Black History Month and the 50th anniversary of the
  late Dr. James H. Cone's Black Theology and Black Power\, the Emmaus Schol
 ars Program at Hope College and Maple Avenue Ministries in Holland\, MI are
  sponsoring a community-wide book study on this groundbreaking work in Chri
 stian theology.\n\nWritten in the wake of the rebellions in Newark and Detr
 oit in 1967 and the assassination of Martin Luther King\, Jr. in 1968\, Bla
 ck Theology and Black Power was Dr. Cone's first attempt to "identify liber
 ation as the heart of the gospel\," and it launched his academic career as 
 the founder of Black liberation theology.\n\nThe study will meet every Thur
 sday from February 14 to March 14\, and it is open to Hope students\, staff
 \, and faculty\, as well as community members.\n\nWHEN: Every Thursday\, Fe
