The Hope College Department of Music invites the community to a special concert featuring all four of its choral ensembles—Chapel Choir, VERITAS, SPERA, and College Chorus—on Saturday, April 25 at 3:00 p.m. in the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts Concert Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

Prepared by conductors Eric D. Reyes and Pamela Pierson, the concert will bring together the full choral program at Hope. The program will include a selection of concert spirituals for choir and soloists, featuring both student and faculty performers. The Chapel Choir will perform “My God is a Rock”, arranged by Parker/Shaw, with student soloist Samuel Machado. Faculty members Professor Jennie Judd Reyes and Dr. Charsie Randolph Sawyer will be featured in settings of Amazing Grace, In dat great gittin’ up morning,  and He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.

The combined choirs will also perform Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, joined by Dr. Huw Lewis on the Casavant organ in the Jack H. Miller Concert Hall. Known for its warmth and beauty, Lauridsen’s work has become one of the most loved choral compositions of the last several decades.

The concert will close with Elaine Hagenberg’s O Love, offered as a tribute to Hope’s graduating seniors.

This performance offers a chance to hear the voices of Hope’s choral community come together in a program that is thoughtful, moving, and welcoming to all.
