Enjoy a Picnic with Entertainment

Windmill Island Gardens, 7th Street and Lincoln Avenue

11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Picnic

Picnic includes: carved mojo pork loin, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken tamales, vegetarian enchiladas and black bean burgers.

Win prizes.

Explore Holland and Windmill Island Gardens

9–11 a.m. Velo City Community Day Ride. Participate in a family-friendly bicycle ride. Meet at DeVos Fieldhouse, 222 Fairbanks Avenue, at 9 a.m.

9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bring your ticket to Windmill Island Gardens for free admission.

Enjoy De Zwaan, the 254-year-old Dutch windmill; explore 36 acres of gardens, dikes, and canals; visit the Posthouse museum; and shop at the unique Windmill Island stores.

Children will enjoy the playground, Children’s Gardens, and the Antique Carousel.

Summary

The 50th annual event, part of the college’s year-long sesquicentennial commemoration, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 5, and feature a picnic at Windmill Island Gardens, live music, a family-friendly bicycle ride and multiple home Hope athletic contests.  Community Day celebrates the long-standing relationship between Holland residents and the faculty, students and staff of Hope College.  More information is available here.
