“Speedrun Science: The Tech Behind TASBot”

Get a live demo of Tool Assisted Speedrunning and React apps that have been built for speedrunners. TASes attempt to document the fastest possible record that could be achieved for beating a game by playing the game frame by frame and choosing exact inputs. The TASBot team then proves these records on unmodified original game systems. Learn about TASing, emulation, video encoding, and some React web development basics that crossover with mobile app development in React Native.
Bio: Travis McGeehan is a Senior Software Engineer at Gordon Food Service. In his free time he acts as an Ambassador for TAS Videos and Administrator with the TASBot team.  The TASBot team has presented Tool Assisted Speedruns at TwitchCon 2018, Games Done Quick 2020/21, LTX Vancouver, MAGFest, and JSWorld and React Summit in Amsterdam. He holds the current TAS records for both glitched and glitchless Pokemon Yellow and Backyard Baseball, and has developed many other websites to research and aid in TAS preservation.
