“What is unique about software in the aerospace and defense industry?”

Trevor Meiste is a software engineer working in the aerospace industry. He will talk about his career and describe how software engineering can support C-130 and F-22 combat aircraft. And he will describe what a “Skunkworks program” is!
Trevor Meiste is an embedded software engineer at GE Aerospace working in the Avionics group which is headquartered in Grand Rapids. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 2016 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering and later got a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from Penn State University. From 2018 to 2024 he worked at Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Georgia. There, he supported C-130 and F-22 simulation lab teams and later developed vehicle systems OFP for a Skunkworks program. At GE, he is developing the Health Awareness System that will be a part of the US Army’s FLRAA platform.
