The Hope College Concert Band will present “From glen to glen, and down the mountainside” on Friday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The program will feature pieces based on American, English and Irish folk songs aimed at conveying a sense of nostalgia, wistfulness and joyful “home-coming.”  Selections will include “Irish Tune from County Derry,” “English Folk Suite” and “Spoon River.”

The Concert Band is under the direction of Dr. Anand Raj Sukumaran, who is an assistant professor of music and director of bands at Hope, and teaches courses in secondary-level instrumental music methods and administration, brass and woodwind techniques, folk guitar and world music. This marks his second semester at Hope, his fourth year as a college professor and his 18th year as a music educator.
