Day of Fasting and Prayer

Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 8:00am to 8:00pm

You're invited to join Hope College faculty and staff, Western Theological Seminary and several local churches for a day of prayer and fasting.  We will ask for God's favor on our fall semester and protection from COVID-19.

The spiritual disciplines of fasting and prayer have long been practiced by God’s people when they were longing for God’s intervention in a broken world. In times of desperation and confusion, fasting has been a way to draw near to God and express our dependence on Him.

On August 11, we will do the same: ask for God's intervention in the chaos and uncertainty of our present circumstances.

There will be three virtual prayer & worship sessions throughout the day, each centered around a theme and led by a variety of Hope colleagues, Western staff and local pastors.

7:30am - 8:00am: Lament

12:00pm - 12:30pm: Favor

7:00pm - 7:30pm: Hope

You can register to attend here:

We will be sending out a "guide" for the day, so you can pray along with us if you cannot attend the sessions.

We eagerly anticipate praying with you and seeking God on behalf of our community.

I was pleased that we publicly went before God for His wisdom and intervention. We are not ashamed of the Gospel or our God. I also was extremely pleased that we collaborated with both Western Seminary and the community. Finally, I was glad for the diverse population represented(staff, faculty, students, race/ethnicity, age, gender, etc.) and the diversity of the delivered prayers -- all from the heart. To God be the glory.
