Distinguished Artist Award (DAA) Scholarship Day

The Hope College Theatre department will be holding its annual Distinguished Artist Award (DAA) Scholarship Day on December November 16, 2018. Each year, up to 60 Distinguished Artist Award scholarships are given to students with strong academic records and outstanding creative abilities in art, dance, music, theatre or creative writing. Renewable for four years, the Distinguished Artist Award provides $3,000 for college costs. Graduating seniors in high school that are considering minoring or majoring in theatre at Hope are encouraged to apply. Theatre DAA recipients must major or minor in theatre. 

The tentative audition day schedule is as follows:

9–9:30 A.M. Arrival — Meet in the DeWitt Theatre Lobby for refreshments

9:30–9:45 A.M.         

Warm ups with current students

Welcome to family and intro in the DeWitt Main Theatre

(parents are released to explore campus or downtown Holland)

9:45–11:30 A.M. Auditions

11:30 A.M.–NOON Portfolio reviews and theatre tours

12–1 P.M. Lunch with candidates, families, faculty,and current students (Maas Auditorium)

1–2 P.M.

Student acting workshop in studio theatre by Prof. Jean Bahle

Parent meeting with faculty (Maas Auditorium)

2–3:30 P.M. Interviews and student conversations

3:30–4:30 P.M. Improv workshop led by students

4:30 P.M. Departure or free time

7:30 P.M. Curtain for Into the Woods in the DeWitt Main Theatre
