Dr. Sage Bolte will be presenting her talk Friday, Nov 16th at 10:30 entitled, "Assessing and Addressing Sexual Health in Chronic Illness: a quality of life issue."
Sage Bolte received her bachelor’s degree in both psychology and social work at Hope College, in Holland, MI, and later continued her studies at the University of Michigan, where she received her master’s degree in social work. She received the American Cancer Society’s Doctoral Training Grant in 2008 and obtained her Ph.D in social work from The National School of Social Services at the Catholic University of America in 2010. Dr. Bolte also has her certificate in sexual health from the University of Michigan and is a certified sex therapist, known nationally for her work in sexual health and cancer, and respected as a leader in the field of oncology social work.
Sage joined Inova 15 years ago, as an oncology counselor at Inova’s Life with Cancer program and was appointed Executive Director of Life with Cancer and Patient Experience for the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in 2013. Dr. Bolte helped grow the young adult support program at Inova and the annual young adult survivorship conference. She assumed multi-site system responsibility to drive and foster a culture of patient and family centered care and service while improving patient & family experience and patient relations across the institute. Most recently, she was named Chief Philanthropy Officer and President of the Inova Health Foundation. In her new role, she will work closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers, and counsel to achieve Inova’s goals, institutionalize best practices, and establish a culture of philanthropy across the entire organization. In addition, she will oversee development strategies, including major and planned gifts, events, and foundation and corporate giving. Sage reports to Inova’s President and CEO, serves on the executive leadership team and oversees the diverse and growing foundation team.
She has written or contributed to several peer-reviewed articles and books, including three chapters in the Oxford textbook The Handbook for Oncology Social Work.
Sage lives in Northern Virginia with her husband Jeff and their three children.
