Virtual EventJoin STEP as we kick off Sexual Assault Awareness Month with an Eavesdropping on the Experts conversation this Thursday, April 8 at 7pm.
This Eavesdropping on the Experts seeks to engage discussion and ideas regarding sexual education in college and the consequences that come alongside a lack of understanding and knowledge prior to entering the landscape of college culture. Students often learn about sex via media, regardless of whether their parents or schools educate them or talk openly about it; this is not always postive. This will be an organic conversation among local leaders about how Hope can both support students as they unlearn negative connotations of sexuality they might have had exposure to as well as educate them about healthy relationships.
The panel will consist of Dean Frost, Bill Russner (CAPS), Dr. Sarah Kornfield (Communications, Women and Gender Studies), Dr. Carrie Bredow (Psychology, Women and Gender Studies), Heather Alberda (Ottawa County Health Department), Danielle Uribe (Grand Valley State University School of Public Health), and Amy Jo Pleune (Lakeshore Pregnancy Center).
