DESCRIPTION:Pianists Benjamin and Christina Krause will present a faculty r
 ecital at Hope College on Thursday\, Feb. 4\, at 11 a.m.\, with the live p
 erformance available for viewing online at hope.edu/live.\n\nOut of an abu
 ndance of caution due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic\, there will
  be no in-person audience.  The concert will be taking place in the Concer
 t Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts.\n\nBenjamin and 
 Christina Krause will be performing "Folkdance\,” by Meredith Monk\; “
 Four Pieces for Piano Four Hands\,” by György Ligeti\; "Taxonomies of P
 ulse\,” by Benjamin Krause\; and “Sonata for Piano Four Hands\,” by 
 Francis Poulenc.\n\nA composer and pianist\, Benjamin Krause is a recipien
 t of a Copland House Residency Award\, a Houston Symphony Emerging Compose
 r Award\, a Presser Award\, and the American Conservatory at Fontainebleau
 ’s Prix Marion Tournon Branly\, and was named the 2018 Distinguished Com
 poser of the Year by the Music Teachers National Association. His music ha
 s been performed worldwide\, with performances and commissions by the Hous
 ton Symphony\, Network for New Music\, Da Camera of Houston\, Musiqa\, Lyn
 x Project\, and the Delgani String Quartet. Krause received his D.M.A. fro
 m Rice University\, and\, as a pianist\, performs music ranging from the t
 raditional classical repertoire to new music and jazz.  He is an assistant
  professor of music at Hope.\n\nPianist Christina Giuca Krause enjoys a dy
 namic career as a performer\, vocal coach and educator. Heard on stages th
 roughout the United States and Europe\, she has served on the music staff 
 of the Houston Ballet\, Opera Theatre of St. Louis\, Chicago Opera Theater
 \, and Chicago Lyric Opera. She holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservator
 y and Rice University. She is the artistic director of LYNX\, a Chicago-ba
 sed nonprofit organization that amplifies diverse voices through innovativ
 e recital programming and educational initiatives. She is the recipient of
  the 2021 Alumni Enterprise Award by the Music Academy of the West for LYN
 X’s Composition of a City educational program. She teaches collaborative
  piano at Hope\, where she also performs as an accompanist\, and is on fac
 ulty at Lutheran Summer Music.
