Hope College’s Knickerbocker Theatre will present its Fall Film Series with “Neither Wolf, Nor Dog” on Monday-Saturday, Oct. 15-20, at 7:30 p.m.
“Neither Wolf, Nor Dog” is a drama that dives into the heart of the contemporary Native American landscape, and is adapted from the 1994 nonfiction novel by award-winning author Kent Nerburn. The film follows the journey of a white author, Nerburn, who is summoned by a Lakota Elder, Dan, to help him write a book about his perspective on Native American life, past and present. The two, along with the elder’s sidekick, embark on a road trip that highlights Lakota country, its history and struggles, and its hopes for the future.
The film is receiving critical support with a 95 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The Minneapolis Star Tribune has said that “By the time the end credits arrive, the characters of this modest, crowdfunded feature are practically unforgettable.”
The Fall Film Series will close with “Gavagai” on Monday-Saturday, Nov. 12-17, at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for the individual films are $7 for regular admission and $6 for senior citizens, Hope College faculty and staff, and children. Tickets will be sold at the door.
