First-Year Family Book Club

Tuesday, July 28, 2026 7pm to 8pm

+ 1 dates

  • Tuesday, August 25, 2026 7pm to 8pm

Together, we’ll be reading Out to Sea: A Parent’s Survival Guide to the Freshman Voyage by Kelly Radi, a thoughtful and encouraging resource as you support your student through this season of transition.

To accompany the reading, check out the PDF family workbook. It will provide helpful reflection questions, college resources and conversation starters along the way!

We will gather virtually three times over the summer at 7 p.m. EST on the last Tuesday of each month. Our reading and discussion schedule is as follows:

  • June: Read the introduction through Chapter 3 | Join us virtually on June 30
  • July: Read chapters 4–8 | Join us virtually on July 28
  • August: Read chapters 9–13 | Join us virtually on  August 25

We all know that summer is a busy time, so please join us when you can! Each gathering will offer meaningful conversation and connection with other families navigating the same season. Questions? Email families@hope.edu anytime.

To inquire about accessibility or to request disability-related accommodations to fully participate in the event, please email accessibility@hope.edu.
