Hope College Folk Music Presents The Music of Joni Mitchell

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The folk ensembles will be performing some of the most well-known compositions from Joni Mitchell, called “one of the greatest songwriters ever” by Rolling Stone magazine. The concert will feature student arrangements of Mitchell’s wide-ranging repertoire.  The ensembles featured include the Indie Folk Ensemble, American Roots Ensemble, Appalachian String Band Ensemble, OTVD jazz ensemble and Brazilian Drumming Ensemble.

The Indie Folk Ensemble includes Shelby Ryan, vocals; Liv Panozzo, vocals/guitar; Zach Dankert, fiddle; Caleb Wortz, banjo; Ozzy Gallegos, lead guitar; and Kaan Kurtulus, bass.

The American Roots Ensemble includes Shelby Rhodes, vocals; Kierney Johnson, vocals; Ben Douma, guitar/vocals; Eric Bosler, banjo; Zach Snoek, mandolin; Mariah Dingman, fiddle; Hannah Struk, fiddle; and Onika Bouwkamp, bass.

The Appalachian String Band Ensemble includes Linnea Hjelm, vocals; Isabel Bustamante, vocals; Livia Maat, vocals; Lian Robinson, fiddle; Stephen Talaga, mandolin; Justin Merriman, banjo; Luke Christensen, guitar; and Clif Metcalf, bass.

The OTVD Jazz Ensemble includes Shelby Rhodes, vocals; Charlie Jordan, tenor saxophone; Clif Metcalf, organ; and Zach Snoek, drums.

The Brazilian Drumming Ensemble includes Megan Popp, caixa; Hannah Dirkse, surdo; Lillian Dickens, agogo; and Samantha Mattingly, ganza.
