French Speaker Series: Barbara Timmer

Barbara Timmer '69 completed a major in History at Hope College before pursuing a law degree at the University of Michigan. She has served in a number of roles in the United States Government including:

General Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives, Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs (1989-92); Senior Vice President for Legislative and Regulatory Affairs (1996-98); Assistant Secretary of the United States Senate (2001-02); and Assistant Sergeant at Arms, Information Technology, United States Senate (2002-2003). She is now a political consultant.

Barbara will speak about her lifelong love of French and how her passions for History and French have shaped both her professional and personal life.

A reception will follow honoring Ms. Timmer for her gift of 1,000 French books to the Hope library Books from her French collection will also be gifted to students at the reception.
