The Rev. Wesley Granberg-Michaelson, who was secretary general of the
Reformed Church in America for 17 years, will deliver the address “Future Faith: Ten Challenges Reshaping Christianity in the 21st Century” on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. at Hope College in the Fried-Hemenway Auditorium of the Martha Miller Center for Global Communication.
The public is invited. Admission is free. The talk will focus on 10 ways American churches are challenged to change at this watershed moment in Christian history.
Granberg-Michaelson served as general secretary of the Reformed Church in America from 1994 to 2011. He is known globally for his ecumenical leadership, including service as director of church and society for the World Council of Churches.
His most recent book is “Future Faith: Ten Challenges Reshaping Christianity in the 21st Century.” He is also the author of “From Times Square to Timbuktu: The Post Christian West Meets the Non-Western Church” and a memoir, “Unexpected Destinations: An Evangelical Pilgrimage to World
Christianity.”
Earlier in his career, Granberg-Michaelson served as the legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Mark O. Hatfield and as the associate editor of Sojourners Magazine. He is a 1967 Hope graduate and holds a Master of Divinity degree from Western Theological Seminary.
