Birds are amazing creatures! They play vital ecological roles in our world; they’re seed dispersers, flower pollinators, pest predators, and so much more. But many of them need our help; habitat loss and urban expansion have put significant strains on wild populations and have contributed to the death of more than one billion birds from window collisions each year in the US alone. Luckily, these collisions are incredibly preventable! At Hope Takes Flight, attendees will get to know their local and migratory birds and learn about simple, easy solutions to protect the birds in our community.

Join us for short films, a panel discussion with local experts, a live bird of prey, and an opportunity to see the Van Wylen Library’s rare 1860 copy of Audubon's Birds of America up close. Free, open to the public, all ages welcome, and light refreshments included.

This event is made possible by a FlightPath grant and is presented in partnership with VanWylen Library, the Outdoor Discovery Center, Hope College Biology, and Hope College Educational Outreach.
