The annual International Food Fair at Hope College will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Maas Center auditorium.
The public is invited. The food will be available in exchange for tickets that will be sold at the door.
The college’s Fried Center for Global Engagement is sponsoring the 2019 International Food Fair, where the college’s international students will be celebrating the many cuisines and cultures of
the countries represented by members of the Hope community. The event has been celebrated for more than 30 years.
For the event, Hope international and “TCK” (third-culture-kid) students get together to cook a dish from their home countries. Event attendees buy tickets at the door and move from table to
table, asking questions and tasting samples of the food.
Admission is $5 for an initial packet of five tickets, with additional tickets costing $0.50 each. Most dishes cost one or two tickets. Only cash is accepted, and those attending are asked to bring
along small bills or the exact amount they anticipate paying.
Every year, the International Food Fair raises funds to support a global cause. This year, the event will focus on supporting Nibakure Community Village (nibakure.org), a non-profit organization in
Rwanda that assists vulnerable youth and illiterate adults.
