About the Performers
Under the direction of Prof. Robert Shipley, the Jazz Arts Collective—Hope College’s premier large jazz ensemble—focuses on ensemble communication, creativity, and improvisation, presenting a wide range of jazz styles.
They are joined by the Jazz Guitar Combo, directed by Prof. Lee Heerspink, and the Steps Ahead Jazz Combo, directed by Prof. Tom Lockwood. Together, these ensembles showcase the talent and versatility of Hope College’s student musicians through both classic and contemporary jazz repertoire.
