The exhibition’s juror, Casey Droege, who is founder and director of Pittsburgh-based Casey Droege Cultural Productions, will deliver a juror’s talk on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. in Cook Auditorium of the De Pree Art Center, with an opening reception following in the gallery from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The public is invited to the exhibition, juror’s talk and opening reception. Admission is free.

Open to all students at Hope, the competitive exhibition is an annual fixture in the De Pree Gallery.  Each year, the Department of Art and Art History invites a recognized artist or curator to judge the student work.

Droege is an artist and a cultural producer with a practice characterized as floating between organizing and object making, while incorporating entrepreneurialism. Droege’s work has been written about in the New York Times, Temporary Art Review, ARTSY and most Pittsburgh publications.

Casey Droege Cultural Productions (CDCP) is a woman-owned, disability-owned business created in 2016 as an experiment in sustaining a for-profit, socially minded arts business while building arts economy.  CDCP offers public programming that connect the public to art and artists, and provides art consulting that includes facilitating artwork acquisitions and commissions, with specialization in connecting with regional artists and designers.

The De Pree Gallery will be open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23 and 24, because of the college’s Thanksgiving Break.  Those without a Hope College ID, which is necessary to gain access through the front door, should call the Department of Art and Art History at 616-395-7500 to gain entry.
