The Hope College Wind Ensemble will perform Friday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. The concert can be viewed online at hope.edu/live
Out of an abundance of caution due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no in-person audience.
The Wind Ensemble will be performing “Primal Worlds,” by Dana Wilson; “Suite” from "The Good Soldier Schweik," by Robert Kurka; “Legacy,” by Mark Camphouse; “Hammersmith,” by Gustav Holst; “Sonata Pian’ e Forte,” by Giovanni Gabrieli; and “Symphony No. 6,” by Vincent Persichetti.
The Wind Ensemble is directed by Gabe Southard. Southard is an associate professor at Hope, where he also conducts the Concert Band, and the Faculty and Student Collaborative Ensemble. He completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts in conducting at Michigan State University, and has performed with the Madison Symphony Orchestra and the Lucca, Italy, Opera Orchestra, as well as a number of community orchestras.
