From Hope to Scientist at Los Alamos.
At Hope, Nick's research experiences included electrodeposition of metallic thin films under Dr. Jennifer Hamptin and harvesting radioisotopes under Dr. Graham Peaslee. At UofN under Dr. Ken Czerwinski. Nick doctoral research examined the ability to develop signatures attributable to differing uranium species found throughout the front end of the nuclear fuel cycle. At Lanl, under the mentorship of Dr. Andy Nelson and Dr. Joshua White his research involved determining thermophysical properties of uranium nitride/uranium oxide composites. These composite materials are a potential alternative nuclear fuel form that takes advantage of the increased fissile atom density and thermal con ductivity of uranium nitrides while maintaining the favorable stability of uranium oxide
fuel forms. Now he currently serves as a process engineer in producing plutonium-238 heat sources.
Dr. Nicholas Wozniak attended Hope College from 2008 to 2012, majoring in Chemistry and Physics. Nick also played football all 4 years at Hope and joined the Knickerbocker Fraternity. Nick received his PhD from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He began a post-doctoral research project at Los Alamos National Lab (Lanl), Nick was converted to a staff scientist served as a first line manager, and now a product engineer
