Hope College dance affiliate StrikeTime Dance Company will present a live dance event for children, Dancing Galleries on Friday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 15, at 12:30 p.m. in the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland. The audience will experience a journey through a museum through the lens of dance.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
All of the works on the program have been inspired by the elements and principles of visual art. Presented will include “Kaleidoscope Dream,” choreographed by William Crowley, alumni of Hope College; “Little Girl Aged 14,” choreographed by Alissa Tollefson, alumni; “Rhythm Sculpture,“ a collaboration between Heather Cornell and student artist Madison Korff; and “Groovin’ Daily,” choreographed by director Nicki Flinn, company member Brenden Trojan and dancers.
A special outreach program between StrikeTime Dance and the Zeeland elementary art program, will host artwork by Zeeland 3rd graders. Their artwork will be displayed during the performances. The students will also attend a special matinee performance on Friday, Jan. 14. Support for the outreach experience was provided by the Hope College Patrons for the Arts and the Maxine DeBruyn Endowment.
Due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, Hope is currently requiring that masks be worn by all individuals while indoors on campus unless in their living space or alone in their work space.
