 pe College) and Michael Keller have established the Science and Human Heal
 th Lectureship so that students at Hope College and the greater Holland co
 mmunity may be exposed to leading-edge endeavors in the translation of sci
 ence to human health. The inaugural lectureship by Dr. Anne Connolly will 
 address gene therapy as an innovative strategy addressing human health. Dr
 . Anne Connolly is chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurology at the Col
 umbus Nationwide Children’s and an expert in gene therapy for children w
 ith Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Her research 
 has focused on neuromuscular disease and neuroimmunology. Dr. Connolly's c
 areer of excellence in research\, in teaching\, and in the clinic shows th
 e positive impact of translational science on human health. The General Au
 dience Lecture "Gene therapy 101--What you should know"" will be an introd
 uction to gene therapy and the Technical Lecture "Advances in Gene therapy
  for Children with Spinal muscular atrophy and Duchenne muscular dystrophy
 --Why the size and site of the gene/protein matters" will plunge into the 
 research. Rodger Kobes and Michael Keller will be attending these inaugura
 l lectures.\nThe General Audience Lecture and  "Gene Therapy 101--What you
  should know"\; is on Thursday\, September 26th\, reception at 6:30 PM\, l
 ecture at 7:00 PM\, in Winants Auditorium\, Graves Hall\, Hope College.\n\
