Theatre DAA Auditions

The Hope College Theatre department will be holding its annual Distinguished Artist Award (DAA) Scholarship Days on November 15, 2019 and February 14, 2020. Auditions are also available by appointment on November 8, 2019. Each year, up to 60 Distinguished Artist Award scholarships are given to students with strong academic records and outstanding creative abilities in art, dance, music, theatre or creative writing. Renewable for four years, the Distinguished Artist Award provides $3,000 for college costs. Graduating seniors in high school that are considering minoring or majoring in theatre at Hope are encouraged to apply. Theatre DAA recipients must major or minor in theatre. 

The following is a tentative schedule for the day. Registrants will recieve updated schedules prior to the audition date.

9–9:30 A.M. Arrival — Meet in the DeWitt Theatre Lobby for refreshments

9:30–9:45 A.M.  Warm ups with current students

9:45–11:30 A.M. Auditions 

11:30--11:45 A.M. Theatre Tour

12–1 P.M. Lunch with candidates, families, faculty, and current students 

1:00–2:00 P.M. Student acting workshop in studio theatre by Prof. Jean Bahle/Parent Meeting with Faculty

2:00 - 3:30P.M. Interviews and student conversations  

3:30 - 4:30 P.M. Improv workshop led by students 

7:30 P.M. Curtain for The Shakers of Mount Lebanon Will Hold a Peace Conference This Month (November 15) OR Doubt (February 14) in the DeWitt Main Theatre
