Join us for Weaving our stories: Black Ash basketry, ecology, and the Anishinaabe people of Michigan with special guest speaker,  Kelly Church, on Thursday, March 30 at 7pm. 

Kelly Church is an Ottawa/Pottawatomi black ash basket maker, fiber artist, educator, activist and culture keeper. A member of the Gun Lake Band in Michigan and a Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Ojibwe descendent, she comes from an unbroken line of black ash basket makers and from the largest black ash weaving family in the Great Lakes region.

Ms. Church’s talk is cosponsored by the following departments and groups on campus: Biology, History, American Ethnic Studies Women's and Gender Studies, Art and Art History, The Kruizenga Art Museum, and the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
