"What Was I Wearing" is an annual exhibition collaboration between Hope College’s STEP program and Kruizenga Art Museum. Inspired by the touring art exhibition What Were You Wearing created by Jen Brockman and Dr. Mary Wyandt-Hiebert that debuted at the University of Arkansas in 2014, What Was I Wearing challenges the notions that provocative clothing is the cause of sexual assault and that sexual assault can be prevented by the survivor alone. In the exhibition, you will find stories of survivor experiences paired with the outfits worn by survivors of sexual assault at the time the incident occurred. This powerful exhibition is one of many ways STEP strives to provide survivors of sexual violence a platform to speak their truth and share their stories with the wider campus community.
Please join us in celebrating the opening of this exhibition on Friday, April 5 from 4 - 6 pm. Refreshments and survivor-supportive activities will be available during this time.
