Henry Barnes of the Guardian said, “Things to Come is a smart, earnest undertaking: an exploration of the insecurity that can hit any of us, at any age, when we start to question the life we’ve built.” Guy Lodge of Variety has said, “Mia Hansen-Love and Isabelle Huppert prove a dream partnership in the director's gorgeous, heart-cradling post-divorce drama.”

Directed by Mia Hansen-Løve and originally titled “L’avenir,” “Things to Come” won the Best Director award at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival. The film focuses on Nathalie, played by Isabelle Huppert, who is a philosophy teacher, a wife to her husband to 25 years and a caring daughter to her aging mother. Once she finds out her husband of is leaving her, Nathalie’s life seems to crumble before her. For the first time since she can remember, Nathalie finds herself with a newfound sense of liberation. “Things to Come” gives observations on life, love and the passing of time as Nathalie sets out to redefine her life and rediscover herself.

The film is rated PG-13, and is in French with English subtitles.
